Why Naming My Blog Candle in the Window

The tradition of burning a candle in the window

There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of even one small candle"- Robert Alden
Placing a burning candle in one's window is a common tradition that dates back to colonial times. Candle light often evokes the warmth of home and family. The fireplace was center of family life in days gone by, and thus the candle was generally lit from that fire.
The candle was often placed in the window when a member of the family was away. The lit candle was also placed in the window as a sign of good news or as a beacon to weary travelers. Candles also represented friendship and were seen as a sign of welcome to others.
In early America, homes were often miles apart. The sight of a candle in a window from a distance was a sign of "welcome" to those wishing to visit. Many people today only associate candles in the window as a Christmas tradition. Yet, look around our community at night, and you will see electric candles placed in the windows of more and more homes during all seasons of the year.

So I am continuing the candle in the window tradition.  I want people to feel welcomed and to feel the warmth of home and family.  So welcome to all.

Women Don't Know How to be Women Any More

My husband says that women don't know how to be women any more.  I think it is true.  Women aren't lying, they worked really hard to be men and by gully they did a really good job.

You know and that is okay if that's what you want.  What I don't like is how many women are so negative to ladies who want to be feminine and realized as a woman.  Some of us want to look like, be like a woman and do women's work of raising children and dressing feminine in dresses and skirts.  We should have the right to be who we are without a lot of nastiness toward us.  A lot of women will say that if a woman wants to be feminine and be a home maker that she is destroying all women and making all women slaves.  Please,   I could never compete with the lady shown in the picture.  There is nothing I could ever do to diminish her.

So this is the reason for Fascinating Womanhood.  Because like my husband said we no longer know how to be feminine and FW is a very thorough book  on how to return to the kind of woman God wants us to be.  I was at first only going to show women where to find skirts and dresses which are hard to find in some areas but that isn't enough.  We have to know how to be a woman inside and out.
